Why these exist

Most small contractors price jobs from the wage they pay, a markup someone told them once, and a gut feel. The money leaks out in three places: labor priced below what it really costs, a markup that doesn't cover overhead, and changes done before they're priced. Every kit fixes those three.

Markup is not margin
A 20% markup on a $10,000 job = $12,000 price. You keep $2,000, which is a 16.7% margin, not 20%.

Who's behind it

Wrench & Ledger is two partners. One has owned and run a 13-person service trades company: crews, trucks, licensing and bookkeeping. The other has managed commercial and residential construction projects: scopes, schedules, subs and job costing. We build the tools we wished we had.
